Hi Fat2Flaca followers!
These are my favorite fashion trends of the summer, not necessarily all of the trends of the season. As a plus size woman, I find a lot of the options at Plus Chain clothing stores to be BORING and dated. They often incorporate classic trends like floral print but always seem to miss the mark, but messin up the cut or shape of the piece and trying to hide the sape of our bodies rather than highlighting or curvy figures.
1. Chunky Heels and Wedges
From Jeffery Campbell to Jessica Simpson the hell game has slighly shift this summer. Love your heels like you like your women… THICK. I am obsessed
You can find the Nine West Natural Canvas Cork Wedge Heels here and the Torrid Torquoise Peep Toe Chunky Heels here.

2. Flower Pants
The flower print top and dress has evolved! Floral print annually comes back to the trend list, but this summer it is definitely being done justice! GabiFresh is killing these chic cream and pastel flower pants from Dorthy Perkins. The edge in the structure of her jacket balances out the sweetness of her pants for the perfect take on this trend. Check out GabiFresh.com for more details about this outfit!Raslin Floral Print Dress From Style369 here. Blue and Red Belt here. Yellow Lily Flower Chiffon Flutter Blouse here.

3. Neons
I Love Nude and Neon Combinations! Monif C Neon coral Dress here. Ombre Shere Skirt here. Re/Dress NYC here. Forever21+ Neon Color Blocked Pencil skirt here.

Hi Fat2Flaca Followers!
I am having a great morning today!
The website is coming along, my online store, ThickThrift, for my gently used size 24-28 clothes, will be loaded with goodies this weekend. There is a new plus boutique opening 5 minutes from my home called Blair Chic Boutique and Im feeling motivated to clean, cook and work out today. Thanks for following me on this journey followers! “Like” me on facebook and Follow me on twitter for updates as well!

So by now, you should have seen the awesome event, “Plus is Beautiful”, I attended last week hosted by Plus Fashion Week Chicago.

LUSH Cosmetics was in full effect with an informative display and product demonstrations! I observed as they did several hand scrubs and cuticle butter rubs on some of the ladies to educate myself on which products I really wanted to invest my interest in, since there were quite a few options and I wasn’t necessarily trying to wash my hands off 50 times to try them all. They had an amazing liquid lotion called “Charity Pot” which 100% of proceeds go to various international charities. This smelled like cocoa butter and flower sex in the best of ways.
I couldn’t stay away from the soap I kept smelling as I walked past the LUSH display area. “Sexy Peel” bar soap was like a citrus French kiss to my nostrils! You could visibly see real lemon and orange peels that serve as natural exfoliants when you scrub with the soap. Sexy Peel is made with coconut oil, grapefruit oil, rapeseed oil, lemon and lime oil, lemon juice, orange juice, lime juice so it’s basically a scented alarm clock in the shower as you wake up your senses with a fresh citrus-rich shower. The soap is packed with vitamin C and the acidity from the citrus should help keep your skin clearer. I have used this soap the past few days and I love it. It is not very sudsy, but I think that’s why it does not leave behind any film. It also smells really strong while I am showering, but the scent is less fragrant once you’re dried off, which I was kind of disappointed about because it smells so delicious. I realize that scents that linger are usually full or chemicals and aren’t necessarily good for your skin, so this wasn’t a deal breaker. It was like getting aroma therapy before starting my day.

I was also intrigued by the fact that they offered solid lotion/message bars and invested my attention on a toning and uplifting massage bar called, “Each Peach (and two’s a pear)” which definitely refers to a juicy booty, and if you know me, you know that massage + my juicy booty set off all types of fireworks in my head. I loved this product and took it home! I am a huge fan of shea butter and cocoa butter for my brown and often ashy skin. It saturates and moisturizes me all day without a sticky feel and isn’t enhanced with lots of fragrances. Now, Each Peach is scented with natural essential fruit oils and is made from avocado and mango kernel butters mixed with a cocoa butter and shea butter base. It provides a nice glide when applied directly from the bar or rubbed between hands and then applied to your skin, but does not feel slippery. All of the natural butters are packed with vitamins that will make your skin feel supple and smell delicious within a few days use.

The sweet and informative LUSH Staff gave me a card for a free facial treatment at the Water Tower location and free samples for a volumizing shampoo and body scrub that I haven’t tried yet, but will report back about…along with whatever I decide to purchase from them between now and then (tee hee)! I, for one, will be buying these babies as gifts thus year and spreading the LUSH Love.

Plus Fashion Week Chicago knows how to show a lady a good time! Oh and me too!

Tonight’s event, “Plus is Beautiful”, was hosted by Plus Fashion Week Chicago at a gorgeous venue, Ai Japanese Restaurant & Lounge, a sexy Japanese Restaurant and lounge that I will definitely be going back to. Lush Cosmetics-Water Tower location was on site doing product demonstrations including hand treatments with all of their products made from fresh, organic, fruits and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics. Then, there were the women! I say this not in the usual perverted, “hot damn they were all GORGEOUS” kind of way, (well not completely at least), but I left in awe of the powerful presence at this chic event. The private lounge in the rear of Ai lounge, was filled with strong women entrepreneurs, models, photographers, Make-up artists, stylists, designers, boutique owners, and of course bloggers!
Ai lounge offered some delicious signature cocktails and I highly recommend having a Pamapolitan and the scrumptious Chicken Katsu. The bartenders were all extremely welcoming and friendly and the service was fast. I definitely may have to have a date night at Ai Japanese lounge this year (hint, hint hubby)!
The lounge was relaxing and allowed for the women attending to sit around and really get to mingle and network. Being a relatively new blogger and having done my research about the local Plus Fashion community, I recognized many faces from my facebook friends list. I was able to actually connect with other women involved in the plus fashion industry in one way or another and discuss our vision for a vibrant and thriving Chicago Plus community and industry. Blair from Blair Chic Boutique was in attendance and very excited for the opening of her new plus size fashion boutique this weekend! I can not wait to attend the store opening and blog about it! Plus Fashion Week Chicago will also be hosting a ladies night with clothes available for sale by Blair Chic Boutique on July 19th 2012 and you can RSVP here. Stephanie Sack (Owner) and Perry were in the house from Plus Boutique Vive La Femme, I love that their shop is stocked with SWAK, Igigi and kiyonna goods! Check it out especially on July 6th 2012 for their 20% off Styling event with LUSH cosmetics! I met the Owner of Khavoni’s Mane Studio and Spa located on the south side where we discussed my new hair adventure, FUSIONS! I’m convinced that i need to get these asap! She was very informative and kind, plus her salon offers line dancing classes! One of my favorite local Plus models Jessica Milagros, who is also a Plus Fashion Week Chicago was at the event as were several more of Thyck Troup Chicago’s Sisters, including MUA, D Renee Moss and Plus Model, Shannon Holbert. It was truly beautiful to see the connections formed at this event. In an industry where independent, beautiful, business women who are usually deemed as territorial pirhanna’s, Plus Fashion week created a space for those myths to be debunked, as our curvy guests warmly greeted each other and engaged in an organic process of community building. I can’t wait to meet with even more Curvy Queens at the upcoming Plus Fashion Week Chicago events, including the upcoming Plus Fashion Week Chicago Ladie’s Night!
